About Our Club
COCA History
Founded in the 90s by three young men at UVA who wanted a place in Charlottesville where the Copts there could gather.

Originally meeting in student's homes, the club has grown into what it is today and includes a fall retreat for all Virginia Coptic college students to enjoy and gather in the faith.

The acronym "COCA" comes from the Coptic Orthodox Christian Association and is used to refer to both the club and the fall event.
Keeping
the Faith
Most of our members serve in some kind of ministry in our community.

For some, it's serving in Sunday School in the Staunton, Roanoke, Richmond, or D.C. Coptic churches which surround the city of Charlottesville. For others, they join Catholic Hoos in their homeless ministry providing food and conversation to homeless people in Charlottesville. For some, it's joining together to organize and execute the fall college conference.

We do our best to give back to the communities we come from and reach out to those in need as Christ commanded.
Spiritual
Community
We meet every week during the semester for fellowship. Sometimes we have a student speaker, sometimes an outside speaker, and sometimes it's a simple bible study in someone's apartment just like it was many years ago.

Every month we have an event to gather more socially and bring everyone together in a casual environment to get to know one another and bond in the community.
